Lowfield Salt is a demonstration brand. The works, the readings, the yields and the prices on this site are invented. The chemistry is not: the Baumé thresholds, the order the minerals come out of solution in, and the pond-colour progression are as they are in a real solar saltworks.

Privacy

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds nothing from anyone else, and makes no requests to any third-party host. The fonts are served from this domain. Nothing about your visit is recorded here.

If you telephone or write to us, we keep what you send — a name, an address, an order — for as long as we need it to send the salt and to keep the books, which is six years. We do not pass it to anyone but the carrier. Ask us and we will tell you what we hold, or delete it.

Terms of sale

• Prices are per kilogram or per unit as quoted and exclude carriage.
• Wholesale orders are confirmed by return; the price holds for fourteen days from that confirmation.
• Payment is on invoice, thirty days, for confirmed wholesale accounts; at the gate and by post, on ordering.
• Salt is an unprocessed agricultural product. Crystal size, moisture and colour vary between pans and between seasons, and the analysis on the grades page is a typical composite rather than a specification.
• Short weight, damage in transit or the wrong grade: tell us within fourteen days and we will replace it or refund it.
• Pan walks are outdoors on unmade ground and run in most weather. If we cancel, you are refunded; if you cannot come, tell us by the Tuesday.
